Acknowledgement Of Country

We proudly acknowledge Aboriginal people as the first peoples, Traditional Owners and custodians of the lands and waters on which this work occurs. We acknowledge and respect the wisdom, living culture and unique role that Aboriginal people hold, and saw them thrive for thousands of years. We also acknowledge the ongoing leadership role of the Aboriginal community on gender equality and the prevention of violence against women. As First Peoples, our Aboriginal communities are best placed to determine their own culturally appropriate path to gender equality.

IWD- Airey’s Film Screening

Events / Published:

Women’s Health and Wellbeing Barwon South West are delighted to invite you to attend a free film screening to celebrate International Women’s Day this year.

Join us on Wednesday 12 March at the Airey’s Inlet Pub from 6:30-9:00pm.

The theme for International’s Women’s Day 2025 is March Forward, which emphasises progress is not just about reflection, but making decisive bold steps to turn our commitments into action for gender equality. Central to this vision is empowering the next generation as catalysts for lasting change, but we all have responsibility and have a role to enable change.

To celebrate this theme, we will be hosting a screening of Equal the Contest followed by a brief Q&A. The documentary follows the story of a filmmaker who joins a new local women’s footy club in Regional Victoria with a simple desire to play, that becomes a complex journey of inclusion and belonging. It challenges long-standing sports traditions and becomes part of the broader movement for gender equality.
